Electric lighter from the 220V AC for igniting gas with your own hands

With the help of this electric lighter, which is powered by a 220 Volt mains, it is possible to ignite the gas with a high-voltage spark.Such devices are also called a perpetual match, since consumables such as gas or matches are not required.But first we must warn that the device is not galvanically isolated from the 220 V mains and therefore precautions must be taken.

The 220 V mains current limiter is assembled on a 15 Kohm resistor and a capacitor C1.On the pcr406j thyristor and the diode above, an analog of the dinistor is assembled according to the scheme.When the breakdown voltage of the dinistor on the capacitor C2 is reached, a voltage pulse enters the winding 1, thereby a high voltage pulse appears on the winding 2 in the form of a spark. Next, the capacitor C2 is discharged and the dinistor closes.Then C2 is charged, and the dinistor breaks through again, and so everything repeats constantly.The diode from below according to the scheme protects the thyristor from a voltage pulse from the coil.

The transformer core is taken from the wreckage of the flyback transformer core.To break it off like that, you need to make small cuts around the core with a file and gently hit it.The length of the core came out 35mm.

We wrap the core with tape and wind the winding 2, which contains 900 turns of wire with a diameter of 0.14 mm.The winding is made in three sections.I cut the sections out of thick cardboard.

Next, we wrap the winding 2 with tape and wrap the winding 1 on top, which contains 9 turns of 0.3 mm wire.The winding is done in three turns in each section.

The thyristor used PCR406J, which can be found in Chinese Christmas garlands.

All capacitors at a voltage of 400 Volts, when setting up the device, keep in mind that capacitors accumulate voltage and they need to be discharged if you then touch the device with your hands or solder it after disconnecting from the mains.

The distance between the arresters is chosen so that the spark ignites the gas perfectly.

With prolonged continuous operation, the 15k Ohm resistor will heat up, this must be taken into account.
