Hello everyone. In this article I will tell you how to make a simple but at the same time an excellent soldering iron that works from a 220 Volt AC and can be made from a resistor.

The heating element of the soldering iron is a ПЭВ-10 resistor, its power is 10 watts.ПЭВ is a wire resistor, enameled, moisture-resistant, its operating temperature is up to +155 degrees, but it can withstand a higher temperature. The base of the resistor is made of ceramic, on which a tungsten wire is wound.

The resistance of the resistor is 1.5 kOhm, in my case, 1.6 kOhm came out when measuring, this is included in the error of 10% indicated on the housing.

The length of the resistor is 4 cm,the outer diameter is about 1.3 mm and the inner diameter is about 5-6 mm.It is necessary to insert a copper sting into this inner diameter, but it will not fit end-to-end, and therefore the sting must be wrapped with copper foil.

I took the sting 7 cm long .I did not do the handle and connected the resistor to the 220 Volt network. After 2-3 minutes, the heating of the sting will be about 300 degrees, this is under my conditions. Now check.Rosin and solder melt perfectly at this temperature, it is possible to solder parts with such a soldering iron.

During operation, there was no smoke coming from the resistor, but the case is getting dark.
